NFL's Goodell, GE's Immelt on Brain-Injury Study Play

March 11 (Bloomberg) -- Roger Goodell, commissioner of the National Football League, and Jeffrey Immelt, chief executive officer at General Electric Co., speak at a news conference in New York to announce a four-year, $60 million effort to develop imaging technology for detecting, treating and preventing brain injuries. GE will spend $40 million building specialized equipment for diagnosing head trauma, and join the NFL and Under Armour Inc., in spending $20 million to challenge researchers to develop new ideas for helmets and other safety equipment.
