Acquisitions R RSS
Posted by: Heather Green on May 17, 2005
It’s inevitable that all the RSS newsreaders out there should consolidate, I think. And now here is Newsgator buying FeedDemon. This isn’t a case of two weak companies being put together, as Fred Wilson explains. But as RSS increasingly gets rolled into the main portals and browsers, it’s hard to imagine how standalone software companies can make it. Mark Fletcher, the founder of the popular Bloglines RSS service that was snapped up by Ask Jeeves in February, is coming in tomorrow. So there will be plenty to talk about. Shoot me any questions you might have.
Update…(At 5, as they say on the TV box.) Apologies to Om Malik, who did indeed report this first. It’s been a day devoted to excel spreadsheets and I am not doing all the linkage I should when when I post.
