Kleiner Perkins appears to have made its first investment from its new pandemic fund. True to its plan to invest in late-stage companies, the firm has sunk $12.5 million into publicly traded biopharma company Novavax (NasdaqNM:NVAX), which is developing an avian flu vaccine. The company was a penny stock just six months ago.
