Hillary Bats .500 with video and song

Posted by: David Kiley on June 19, 2007

Hillary Clinton is making moves to humanize her image. The campaign posted a video on her campaign website today to introduce her campaign song. The video is very good. A spoof on the final episode of The Sopranos, Hill and Bill are in a diner. She is flipping the pages of the jukebox looking for a song. She even goes so far as to ask Bill where Chelsea is…then the camera cuts to someone struggling to parallel park.

The menacing looking man in the diner is actually played by the same actor who played gangster Johnny Sack in the Sopranos.

These send-ups of popular culture by pols often fall flat. This one worked well. Right up until the disclosure of the song. “YOU AND I” sung by Celine Dion??????

Who thought of that? Why didn’t anyone talk her out of it? Hill…how about a U2 song? One of McCartney’s new songs? “You and I.” Nice title. Horrible song sung by a horrible song stylist.

Hillary batted .500 today.
