Pod-slurping: Help, there's storage everywhere!

My colleague Olga Kharif warns that iPods powered with high-octane software will be able to slurp up immense amounts of corporate data in a matter of seconds. This poses risks. And it’s growing. We’re all carrying evermore storage, from our cell phones to key fobs—all of them potential data slurpers. Consultants including the Gartner Group advise companies to restrict use of memory devices in the workplace. I’d focus on making systems secure and encrypting data. Mess with workers’ iPods, and you’re asking for a fight.

Now I can use my iPod to stick it to the Man? Yey! Another reason to buy a bigger iPod!

I hope those pointy-haired bosses have the sense to lock down files instead of hardware. We can barely do anything fun as it is...
