Office For Mac '08 Pricing Announced

Office ‘08 is coming, but will you buy it? Typical of Microsoft there are several versions, and several confusing pricing schemes. One including student versions (which is what most everyone gets, student or not) and then one for “upgrades” from previous versions. More here at Microsoft’s Mac Mojo blog. Yes, despite my grumbling about Microsoft in general (sorry, its just a reflex) I’ll probably buy it. But that won’t stop me from using Google Docs and Spreadsheets when it suits me either.

I probably won't buy it. I have an older version of Office that meet my needs. Instead I will soon buy iWork and use that to replace Office.

That being said if MicroSoft breaks .doc so that it doesn't import into InDesign I may have to upgrade. Time will tell.

For 90% of the users out there, iWork'08 will handle everything they need; and it does it with a far-less clunky and unwieldy interface. Apple did a nice job with the '08 release, and dealt with many of the concerns I had with the '06 edition I used previously. I suspect iWork'08 will cut deeply into MS Office sales.
