New York City-based musician Susie Ibarra likes to defy stereotypes. As a composer and percussionist, she hails from the world of jazz, but has collaborated with numerous musicians from myriad different genres. To date, she has recorded over 40 CDs while, with Cuban composer Roberto Rodriguez, she recently founded the company, Song of the Bird King. The aim of this collaboration is no less than ??o preserve with film and music indigenous culture and ecology.?
How exactly do you plan to change the world?
?One step at a time, helping to create beauty, spread compassion, engage in cultural dialogue, take action and bring awareness to issues that plague our global community. My collaborative work in music specifically addresses heritage and environmental preservation, creating platforms for Indigenous artists to work in, and outreach to help children and under-served communities.??
