I did a story with Jay Greene this week on Microsoft’s attempt to tackle the HIV virus with the same tools they use to block spam. I’m interested in how algorithms can jump from one domain to the next, and this is a prime example.
My question: Do any of you use Microsoft’s spam-blocking technology? Does it work really well? The researcher who heads up the HIV effort there, David Heckerman, told me that he thinks the spam is basically beaten. I would say that Google has it beaten, Yahoo hasn’t. Don’t know about Microsoft.
