Why did we get to hear the voices from flight 93?

Did we have a right to hear the voice recordings from flight 93? Or did we just "benefit" from the prosecution's strategy in a criminal trail? Are there other documents and recordings central to the most important event in our recent history that are waiting for the appropriate legal venue to emerge?

I found it all incredibly morbid and callous. There's rights, and then there's the right thing. I exercised my own right to turn off the television.
