Corporate blogging is far bigger than it appears

Stephen Baker

Here's an article I wrote for BW Online on corporate blogging. The idea is that few companies are blogging from executive suites, lots of them, from McDonald's to Cannondale Bicycles, are using blogs as communication tools. In many companies they're supplanting the corporate Intranet.

UK business has been slower to take advantage of corporate blogging that the US. Maybe it?? a rational cautiousness. But the benefits outweigh the risks and the blog connects with colleagues, customers and the world at large in a way that an Intranet or company website could never do. Working for a business with diverse locations makes the corridor chat an impossibility. I reckon blogs enable a relaxed, informed communication that cuts across geographic boundaries and levels of seniority.
