Dollar Edges Lower As Economic Data Awaited


MARKETSCOPE : The dollar continued edging lower early Thursday, as investors waited for news of various U.S. economic indicators.

The dollar index was down 0.14 to 89.69 after having skidded Wednesday.

Investors waited for news about indicators such as the Consumer Price Index, Industrial Production, and Philadelphia Fed Index. News about October Treasury International Capital Flows was due at 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The euro was up at $1.2013 amid debate about European monetary policy and the direction of interest rates on the continent.

The sterling was off at $1.7714 amid speculation that the Bank of England might cut rates soon. The dollar was off at 116.07 yen.
