GOP: GLAD GLENN'S GOING

-- Senate Republican leaders can't wait for Senator John Glenn (D-Ohio) to return to space this fall. The retiring former astronaut, the ranking Democrat on the Governmental Affairs Committee, was surprisingly partisan during the panel's hearings on '96 campaign fund-raising abuses. Republicans prefer dealing with Glenn's likely successor on the panel: Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut. Lieberman is considered far less partisan and more moderate philosophically.EDITED BY OWEN ULLMANN
