GATT MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE--ALL AROUND THE GLOBE
Regarding your article in "Is Washington getting ready to give up on GATT?" (Top of the News, Nov. 9): Frustrating as it has been, I do not think there is much sentiment in Washington to give up the question of a General Agreement on Tariffs & Trade agreement in the Uruguay Round.
The driving force for the Uruguay Round has been the private business sectors in virtually all of GATT's 105 member countries, very much including the U.S. private sector.
The U.S. private sector has much to gain from a good Uruguay Round agreement, as do the private sectors of virtually all countries.
