Tottenham Hotspur is ready to rival Arsenal for the signature of Barcelona striker David Villa with the Spanish club prepared to accept bids of 16 million pounds ($26 million), the Daily Mail reported.
Liverpool was this week rebuffed in its attempt to take Villa on loan with Barcelona only considering offers to buy him permanently in this month’s transfer window, the Mail added.
Tottenham is the favorite to sign Germany international midfielder Lewis Holtby from Schalke, the Independent reported.
The 22-year-old Holtby, who is also wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool, could join a new team this month though is more likely to sign a pre-contract agreement and move at the end of the season, the newspaper added.
Joe Cole will get a 4 million-pound payoff from Liverpool to join West Ham United on a free transfer, the Sun reported.
The Reds are giving Cole, 31, a year’s wages to get him off the payroll, while West Ham will take over the remaining 18 months of his contract worth 90,000 pounds a week, the newspaper added.
Redknapp Wants Reveillere
Harry Redknapp is trying to make Lyon’s France international right-back Anthony Reveillere his first signing as Queens Park Rangers manager, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Reveillere, 33, is going into the final six months of his contract so will likely be available on a free transfer or a nominal fee, the newspaper added.
