Zingarevich Wants Arshavin

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich wants to sign Andrey Arshavin from Arsenal next month to help his team’s bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League, the Daily Mail reported.

Arsenal is listening to offers for Arshavin as it tries to shift his 85,000 pounds-a-week ($137,156) contract off the wage bill and could sell him for 2 million pounds, the Mail added.

Forest Frontrunners

Roberto Di Matteo and Roy Keane emerged as the early frontrunners to take over at Nottingham Forest after the club fired Sean O’Driscoll last night, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Keane, 41, was at the City Ground yesterday to watch his former club beat Leeds United 4-2, the Sun reported.

Villa Link

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup dismissed reports linking him with a January loan move for Barcelona striker David Villa, the Daily Mail reported.

“There have been a lot of rumors, but the only Villa coming to Swansea is Aston Villa,” the Mail cited Laudrup as saying. “He is a fantastic player, but unfortunately I don’t think he will be coming to Swansea. I think he will stay at Barcelona.”
