Ecuador’s Correa Plans Chavez Visit Ahead of Cuba Cancer Surgery

Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa will visit Venezuela’s leader Hugo Chavez in Cuba today before Chavez undergoes an operation for cancer, Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said.

“Friends accompany each other in moments of adversity,” Patino said today in a statement on his Twitter account.

Chavez arrived today in Cuba, where he’ll undergo a fourth operation in 18 months to treat an unspecified form of cancer.
