Kenyan Shilling Snaps Three-Day Rally; Tanzanian Shilling Falls

Kenya’s shilling declined, snapping a three-day rally and weakening the most in almost a month.

The currency of East Africa’s largest economy depreciated as much as 0.6 percent to 84.20 per dollar, the worst retreat since June 12, and traded down 0.1 percent at 83.75 by 4:19 p.m. in Nairobi.

The Tanzanian shilling slid, retreating less than 0.1 percent to 1,585.75 per dollar. Uganda’s shilling retreated less than 0.1 percent to 2,468.75 per dollar.
