German Majority Want Referendum on Fiscal Union, Focus Reports

A majority Germans want a referendum on the Fiscal Union if it will trigger the transfer of national powers to the European Union, Focus reported, citing an opinion poll commissioned with TNS Emnid.

Seventy-three percent of polled Germans want to have a referendum, 21 percent think a decision by the Bundestag, the German parliament, or lower house, will suffice, Focus said. TNS Emnid conducted the survey commissioned by Focus on June 27 and 28.
