Ukraine’s state budget deficit widened in the first five months of the year from the same period a year ago as spending rose, the Finance Ministry said.
The shortfall totaled 3.66 billion hryvnia ($453 million), compared with 1.58 billion hryvnia a year earlier, the ministry, based in Kiev, said today in a statement on its website. Spending increased to 135.6 billion hryvnia in the period from 119.6 billion a year ago, the ministry said.
Ukraine raised 5.1 billion hryvnia from state-asset sales in January-May, according to the statement.
