Chilean Stocks: Azul Azul, Cencosud, Falabella and Lan Airlines

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index retreated 0.8 percent to 4,361.58. The MSCI Chile index dropped 1.4 percent to 2,385.00.

Azul Azul SA (AZUL) , owner of the Universidad de Chile soccer team, fell 3.9 percent to 1,535.1 pesos. Universidad de Chile will play with Argentina’s Boca Juniors today in Santiago in the second match of the semifinals of the Libertadores Cup. Boca won the first match in Buenos Aires 2-0.

Cencosud SA (CENCOSUD) , Chile’s largest retailer by sales, rose 0.1 percent to 2,795.9 pesos, snapping a three-day losing streak. The book-building process for the sale of 91.3 million new Cencosud shares in Santiago ended today at 2 p.m. local time. The company will announce the price tomorrow.

Lan Airlines SA (LAN) rose 1.1 percent to 13,642 pesos and was the most active stock today in Chile, with 27.9 billion pesos ($56 million) changing hands, more than twice the average daily volume of the last three months. An offer for Tam SA shareholders to swap their shares for Lan shares ends tomorrow. Latam Airlines Group SA, the company to be created from the combination of both carriers, was rated the equivalent of buy at Santiago-based brokerage Inversiones Security.

SACI Falabella (FALAB) fell 0.8 percent to 4,652.3 pesos. Chile’s largest retailer by market value had its rating cut to sell from hold at Santiago-based brokerage BICE Inversiones.
