The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.2 percent to 7,075.10.
Delta Electronics Inc. (2308) (2308 TT) slid 1.7 percent to NT$88, the biggest drop since June 8. The maker of notebook computer power-supply packs said its automatic testing line was affected after heavy rain flooded a factory in Taoyuan, Taiwan. No major financial impact is expected, the company said in a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
MediaTek Inc. (2454) (2454 TT), a chip designer, increased 1.2 percent to NT$261, the highest close since May 31. Chairman Tsai Ming-Chieh was cited by the Commercial Times as saying the worst for the company is almost over. David Ku, a spokesman for the company, wasn’t available for comment at his office.
HTC Corp. (2498) (2498 TT), Asia’s second-largest smartphone maker, climbed 3.3 percent to NT$361.50, the biggest advance since May 29. Chairwoman Cher Wang said she would increase her holding in the company, the Apple Daily reported. Chief Financial Officer Chang Chia-Lin wasn’t immediately available at his office for comment.
