U.K. Gilt Yields Fall to Fresh Record Low After U.S. Jobs Report

June 01, 2012

U.K. governmemt bonds extended their advance, driving yields to a record low, after a report showed U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose less than economists forecast.

The 10-year gilt yield fell 10 basis points to 1.47 percent at 1:31 p.m. London time, an all-time low.

U.S payrolls climbed by 69,000 last month, less than the most-pessimistic estimate in a Bloomberg News survey, after a revised 77,000 gain in April, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington.
