Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) plans to start building two residential developments in Dubai near the world’s tallest skyscraper, MEED magazine reported May 2, citing industry sources it didn’t identify.

Contractors for Westside, a development comprised of 14 low-rise apartment buildings, have been approached about the project, the magazine reported. The Dubai-based company also plans to build apartment blocks in the Greens, a development in the city, MEED said.

“As part of Emaar’s growth strategy, the company has announced plans to launch new projects in Dubai this year,” Emaar said in an e-mailed statement today.

There are various projects in the planning and conceptual stage that the company will make public once the details are made final, Emaar said in the statement.
