The Czech Republic’s PX (PX) stock index rose 0.5 percent to 935 at the close in Prague. The gauge gained 0.9 percent this week, paring April losses to 3.9 percent.

Vienna Insurance Group AG (VIG) climbed 2.5 percent to 766.5 koruna and Erste Group Bank AG (EBS) of Austria added 0.6 percent to 426 koruna. Financial stocks were among the best performers in Europe as results from Vinci SA to Sandvik AB topped estimates, overshadowing slower U.S. economic growth than forecast.
New World Resources Plc (NWR) , the biggest Czech coking- coal producer, rose 1.2 percent to 127.63 koruna, paring its April losses to 3.7 percent. Deutsche Bank AG raised the stock to hold from sell today, citing an improved outlook for the commodity’s price and sales.
