German poultry production rose 2.5 percent to 1.66 million metric tons last year, the Food & Agriculture Ministry reported.
Output included 1.19 million tons of chicken, 401,000 tons of turkey meat, 63,000 tons of duck and 4,500 tons of goose, the ministry said in a statement on its website today.
Imports of poultry rose 26 percent to 98,300 tons and exports increased 5.4 percent to 312,700 tons, the statement showed. National per-capita poultry consumption rose 0.2 kilogram (0.4 pound) to 18.9 kilograms as eating of chicken meat on average climbed 0.4 kilogram to 11.8 kilograms, according to the ministry.
