Republican Senators Said to Favor Oil-Subsidy Debate

March 26, 2012

Two Senate Republican aides said their party probably will back a procedural vote on legislation that would end some oil-industry tax credits.

Republicans don’t mind having a debate that highlights the contrasting ideas between the two political parties on energy policy, the aides said.

If the procedural vote scheduled for this afternoon wins 60 votes, Senate rules provide for up to 30 hours of debate before the next test vote.

The bill number is S. 2204.
