CTC Media Audience Share Falls to Lowest in Five Weeks, TNS Says

CTC Media (CTCM) Inc.’s average daily share of television viewers fell to 7.6 percent in the seven days to March 4, the lowest in five weeks, according to data compiled by TNS-Global.

CTC’s TV channel, the U.S.-traded company’s biggest source of advertising revenue, remained the fourth-largest in Russia in the week to March 4, data researcher TNS-Global said in an e- mail today. CTC’s audience share was down from 8 percent in the previous week and the lowest since the period ended Jan. 29, when it fell to 7.5 percent, TNS-Global data showed.

NTV Television maintained the biggest average daily audience share, TNS data showed. NTV’s audience expanded to 16.1 percent in the week to March 4, from 14.3 percent a week earlier, while Russia’s Pervyi Kanal, which is controlled by the government, had 15.6 percent, compared with 13.8 percent in the previous period.

Rossiya-1 Television, also controlled by the government, remained the country’s third-biggest channel by audience in the week with a 12.4 percent share, down from 13.7 percent, the data showed.

TNS-Global monitors television viewers ages four years and older in Russian towns of at least 100,000 people.

Shares of CTC fell 0.1 percent to $10.96 at 2:34 p.m. in New York.
