Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- The Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan final index of consumer sentiment for February rose to 75.3 from 75 at the end of last month. Economists projected a reading of 73 after a preliminary figure of 72.5, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey.
Forecasts ranged from 71 to 76 in the survey of 60 economists. The measure averaged 89 in the five years leading to the recession that began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009.
