Thailand Stocks: Berli Jucker, LPN, PTT Exploration, Siam Makro

Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Bangkok.

The SET Index rose 0.5 percent to 1,146.14, the highest close since July 1996. The gauge gained 1.4 percent this week, its eighth weekly advance. It was the longest winning streak since August 2010.

Berli Jucker Pcl (BJC TB), a trading company controlled by billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, jumped 6.1 percent to 35 baht, the steepest advance since Feb. 3. The company will pay a final dividend of 0.45 baht a share, an increase from a payout of 0.35 baht in the same period a year earlier.

LPN Development Pcl (LPN TB), Thailand’s largest builder of non-state residential condominiums by number of units, increased 2.9 percent to 14.10 baht, the most since Jan. 19. The company plans new 11 projects with sales of 16 billion baht in 2012, according to its presentation to investors posted on the stock exchange’s website.

PTT Exploration & Production Pcl (PTTEP TB), the country’s only publicly traded oil explorer, climbed 2.5 percent to 185 baht, halting a two-day decline. Oil for April delivery increased as much as 0.8 percent to $108.70 a barrel in electronic trading in New York, a seventh day of increase.

Siam Makro Pcl (MAKRO TB), Thailand’s biggest cash-and- carry wholesaler, surged 10 percent to 299 baht, a record close. Net income in 2011 climbed 38 percent to 2.6 billion baht. The company will pay a final dividend of 5.50 baht a share, compared with a payout of 3.75 baht in the same period last year.

Univanich Palm Oil Pcl (UVAN TB), a palm oil producer, climbed 4.2 percent to 98.75 baht, a record close. Profit in 2011 more than doubled to 1.28 billion baht.
