Merkel Says ’We Want Financial Transaction Tax in Europe’

Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Chancellor Angela Merkel reiterated her support for a financial-transaction tax in Europe as a way to push back on speculation and raise revenue.
“We want a financial transaction tax in Europe,” Merkel told a gathering of Christian Democratic Union party members today in the town of Demmin in the northern state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
