Prosecutors Seek to Have German President’s Immunity Lifted

Feb. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Prosecuters in the German state of Lower Saxony submitted a request to the lower house of parliament to have President Christian Wulff’s immunity lifted as they seek to start a formal investigation into allegations of accepting illicit favors.

Prosecutors want to open an official probe after finding “initial evidence to suppose” the acceptance of benefits, the prosecutors office in the state capital of Hanover said in a statement on its website today.
