Newmont Eyes 2015 Minas Conga Start-Up, Manager Zegarra Says

Jan. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Newmont Mining Corp., the largest U.S. gold producer, is considering a 2015 start-up for its stalled $4.8 billion gold project in Peru.

Minas Conga, which Newmont suspended in November after weeks of environmental protests, will place 60 percent of its investment in Peru contracts, the company’s Peru environment manager Dario Zegarra told reporters today in Lima.
