Greek Banker Says Euro Future Decided in Coming Months, ANA Says

January 02, 2012

Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Greece’s future as a member of the euro area will be decided in the next few months, state-run Athens News Agency reported, citing statements from Vassilios Rapanos, the chairman of National Bank of Greece SA.

The first quarter of this year will be when it becomes clear whether Greece continues to use the euro or abandons the single currency, the newswire cited Rapanos saying. Rapanos called on Greek political leaders to unite to prevent a departure from the euro area, ANA said.
