Clinton, Yang Exchange Views on Kim Jong-il’s Death By Phone

Dec. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton exchanged views on the death of North Korea’s Kim Jong-il and the Korean peninsula in a telephone call today, according to a statement posted on China’s foreign ministry’s website.

Clinton told Yang that maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula was “very important,” the statement said.

South Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung Hwan also talked to Yang in a seperate call today, the statement said.
