Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are at the close in Taipei.
The Taiex Index fell 1.3 percent to 6,893.30, the lowest close since Nov. 25. The benchmark gauge retreated 3.5 percent this week.
Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. (2475 TT) sank by the 6.9 percent daily limit to NT$1.09. The flat panel maker was fined 297 million won ($261,000) for alleged price fixing by the Korea Fair Trade Commission, the company said in an exchange statement yesterday. Chunghwa Picture’s November sales fell 20 percent to NT$4 billion ($132 million) from a year earlier, according to a separate statement filed with the bourse.
Quanta Computer Inc. (2382 TT) lost 2.9 percent to NT$59.90, the biggest drop since Nov. 24. The world’s largest maker of laptops said November sales fell 3 percent to NT$96.5 billion from a year earlier, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
United Microelectronics Corp. (2303 TT) retreated 2.7 percent to NT$12.45, the biggest loss since Nov. 23. The world’s second-largest custom maker of chips said November sales fell 23 percent to NT$8 billion from a year earlier, according to a statement filed to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
