Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Ukraine’s farmers harvested about 50.1 million metric tons of grain as of today, the country’s Agriculture Ministry said.
That compared with about 40 million tons harvested on the same date last year before drying and cleaning, the ministry, which is based in the capital, Kiev, said today in an e-mailed statement.
The corn harvest advanced to about 14.6 million tons, compared with 11 million tons last year, according to the statement. The corn crop was harvested from 2.53 million hectares (6.25 million acres), or 70 percent of the planted area.
The sunflower seed harvest increased to 8.43 million tons, compared with 6.93 million tons a year earlier, according to the ministry.
