Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks pared losses as gains in Hewlett-Packard Co. dragged technology shares higher.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell 0.2 percent to 1,281.57 at 9:41 a.m. New York time after declining as much as 0.5 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1.06 points to 12,209.61 as Hewlett-Packard advanced 4.5 percent to $28.20.
