Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Linde AG would like to have a better market position in the U.S., and the German specialty gases producer is working to improve its footprint through organic growth and a combination of small to mid-sized purchases, Chief Executive Officer Wolfgang Reitzle said.
Buying Airgas Inc. would be the only theoretical major purchase, though such a deal is not being considered for the time being, Reitzle told journalists at a press conference in Munich today.
Other countries that Reitzle said are interesting expansion territories include Italy and France, though larger rival Air Liquide SA dominates in both markets, he said. Linde is also seeking to expand in Africa, Reitzle said.
