Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Tax offices in the central Athens district of Exarchia will open today after an arson attack damaged the building over the weekend, Greece’s Finance Ministry said.
The offices will be open with the exception of the judicial department, the ministry said in an e-mailed statement. The ministry added that it has backup copies of all documents destroyed in the fire.
Unidentified individuals climbed stairs to the first-floor balcony, smashed office windows and threw a makeshift incendiary device inside, consisting of five gas canisters, the Athens News Agency reported. The device set off a fire that destroyed the entire floor and damaged the building’s second-floor facade.
