Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called a press conference for 12.30 p.m. New York time today after phoning state television earlier to dispel reports that he is suffering from kidney failure.

Chavez has been receiving chemotherapy to treat an unspecified form of cancer.
