June 30 (Bloomberg) -- South Africa posted a budget deficit of 24.2 billion rand ($3.5 billion) in May, compared with deficit of 20.8 billion rand in the same month a year earlier, the National Treasury said.
Tax revenue increased 9.2 percent to 42.08 billion rand from a year earlier, while expenditure rose 11.6 percent to 66.3 billion rand, the Pretoria-based Treasury said on its website today.
