Gazprom May Name Deputy Minister as Head of Oil, Vedomosti Says

September 07, 2009

Russian Deputy Energy Minister Sergei Kudryashov may become head of OAO Gazprom’s oil business by the end of September, Vedomosti said, citing unidentified people at the company and its oil unit OAO Gazprom Neft.

The appointment would give Chief Executive Officer Alexey Miller a deputy with access to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, as the natural-gas company expands its oil business and negotiates with international companies such as Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM:US), the newspaper cited an unidentified government official as saying.
