Dynegy Idles Output at Moss Landing Power Unit in California

October 31, 2008

Dynegy Inc., (DYN:US) a Houston-based power producer, curtailed output at a California generating unit.

The company's 510-megawatt Moss Landing Unit 2 had 260 megawatts, or more than 50 percent, of its capacity idled as of 3:15 p.m. today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report on curtailed and non-operational generating units.

The plant's 754.3-megawatt Moss Landing Unit 6 and 755.7-megawatt Unit 7 were completely idled for a second day.

The natural gas-fired power plant is south of San Francisco. One megawatt is enough for about 800 typical U.S. homes.
