CareerBuilder.com, the job-listing Internet service owned by U.S. newspaper publishers, bought two European Web sites to add more than 1 million job seekers.
Jobbguiden.se of Sweden and JobbingMall.nl of the Netherlands have been added to the company's network, Chicago- based CareerBuilder said today in a statement. Terms of the acquisitions weren't disclosed.
CareerBuilder already operates sites serving Canada and the U.K., the company said. Owned by publishers Tribune Co., Gannett Co. (GCI:US) and McClatchy Co. (MNI:US), the site offers more than 1.5 million job listings and holds more than 20 million resumes, CareerBuilder said.
Shares of Tribune rose 2 cents to $31.12 at 4 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. Gannett fell 15 cents to $55.97 and McClatchy dropped 25 cents to $31.36.
