I ran into Dan Formosa, a founder of Smart Design in New York at the Design in India conference last night and he told me that his design consultancy is moving heavily into sustainability. “There is huge demand in the corporate world now for designing in a sustainabie way,” he said.
Now remember, Smart Design did the original research and universal design for OXO products, the successful line launched by Sam Farber. Smart designed the fat handles that make it as easy to use for people with arthritis as for people without arthritis. Smart has designed dozens of successful products and does the consumer experience thing incredibly well.
Now Smart is going into sustainability and that says a lot about the market out there for design—and about how smart Smart Design is.
