Has Britney Spears People-ized TMZ.com?

Posted by: Jon Fine on March 27, 2007

Anyone thinking that fast-growing site TMZ.com is strictly takedown- or gawker-central (that’s gawker the concept, not gawker the site) evidently hasn’t seen the valentines they’re sending to the nation’s best-known rehab doll.*

If the first ‘official’ photo session of a rehabbed Ms. Spears appears on TMZ.com, we’ll know we’re truly onto something. But till then, please judge for yourself:

“Looks like rehab did more than good for Britney Spears’ soul – she also dropped a surprising ten pounds during her stay in Promises … as TMZ’s been told, Britney’s made a real and significant turnaround since she checked into the Malibu rehab facility.”

Britney Drops Dime In Rehab, 3/27/07

“It appears that the roller-coaster life of Britney Spears may have coasted to a smooth stop at the turnstiles of pop stardom … Is it possible that the old Britney is back … minus the hair?”

Britney Back to Being Britney, 3/27/07

“A radiant, smiling, and hatted Britney Spears slipped into Century City Hospital on Sunday for a bit of emergency dental work … Any speculation that Brit had had some kind of relapse were vigorously refuted by her manager, Larry Rudolph.”

Britney Dashes in for Dental Rescue, 3/26/07

“As for how Britney is doing, we’re told she has had an utter personality change since going into rehab. She has become “nice as well as reasonable,” according to a source who has contact with her.”

K-Fed Ain’t Getting What You Think, 3/22/07

“TMZ has learned Britney Spears will be leaving rehab this week, and she has made one of the most amazing turnarounds in celebrity memory … We’re told she has literally turned her life around. Stay tuned.”

Britney: I Got My Life Back!!!, 3/20/07

(*—I briefly had a very pre-Google notion of awarding a gold star to whoever could identify where I got this term, but it’s not like it’s hard to track down these days.)

Well, remember that TMZ is a joint venture between AOL and telepictures, TWO Time Warner Companies. And People magazine....time warner too. They must have hammered a deal out that included People and TMZ. She has yet to show her youngest son in public, so those are the photos I'm guessing she's banking on.
