Suggest a Topic

Did you know that Business Exchange has more than 1,400 topics that you can browse using the search box or A to Z listing on our home page?

If you can’t find a topic of interest, we encourage you to suggest a business topic of your own. Despite how many we already have, there are still plenty of important topics to create.

While we cannot approve topics lacking a business focus or those that commercially promote a product or company, we do have a good number of “company” topics with a more generic feel –- think General Motors or Google. The key is that there needs to be content written about the company -– other than its own blog.

A topic can be as specific as “recession job search or as broad as “executive search,” but not as detailed as “financial industry jobs are shrinking.” The later is a great subject for a blog post or news story that can be added or saved in the appropriate financial or employment-related topic. Think categories, not headlines.

Below are some tips to help you get your topic approved:

  • Search for your topic from the BX homepage to see if the topic already exists or if something very similar exists where you can add additional content. Our users mutually benefit from the knowledge of others, and duplicate topics only fracture that exchange of information.
  • Suggest a clear business topic that interests you.
  • Enter synonyms, not keywords –- the synonyms are used to improve the quality of our internal search and the information coming in from the feeds. If you enter something very generic, it will pull in too much irrelevant content.
  • In the topic description section, write two or more sentences on your topic. It’s important to define the topic so others will understand what type of information will be saved and discussed.
  • Add relevant content to the topic. Users are encouraged to add relevant content to their suggested topics because it helps start the topic for other users that may have an interest and populates the “Most Active” tab. You can also view and save content pulled in from our feeds to move them into the “Most Active” tab.

If you are still unsure about how to suggest a topic, feel free to contact us with any questions or feedback you may have.
