Additional school comments:
EMBA students select 2 electives and 1 integrative course. These courses can be new courses developed exclusively for the EMBA program where students have expressed a strong interest or students can select from an existing Fisher course.
EMBA at the Ohio State University was, by far, the most rewarding experience in my educational and professional life. It helped me in catapulting my career forward, and enabled me to become an effective leader in my company, as well as in the community.
The program ensured that the cohort was sheltered from the large bureaucracy of Ohio State. The flowers in the salads for lunch were a bit over the top, but everything was very smoothly orchestrated.
The Fisher MBA has the perfect recipe for success: great faculty, modern infrastructure, highly talented students, convenient schedule, affordable fees. Just about everything about the program is phenomenal.
I have no complaints about the day-to-day experience. It was great. The EMBA staff was helpful, the ambiance was right, and everything was perfect.
Overall, the Fisher EMBA program at OSU exceeded my expectations for quality of the faculty (especially their ability to weave together theory and practical applications) and the well-integrated curriculum that supports a holistic executive approach across the various business disciplines. I couldn't believe how quickly the hours on campus flew by&so engrossed was I in the discussions and lectures. On top of everything else, the staff, instructors and my classmates made the whole experience fun!
We spent more time than I thought necessary on the fundamentals of economics, statistics, and accounting. However, I had an undergrad degree in business so it may have been more meaningful for those who did not.
Fisher met my business and personal goals. The program is extremely unique. It's world class in the three areas I was interested in (strategy, finance, and marketing), yet, with the program design, I was able to still coach my daughter's soccer and hockey teams. I looked at all the major programs (and could have gone there) but Fisher was the perfect fit.
Instructors know they are dealing with professionals who had many years of practical work experience. Most of the teaching materials are extremely practical and current, and most instructors were able to facilitate class discussions and have students learn as much from each others as from the instructors. Professors were very accessible to us, and some professors held extra class sessions to review concepts and answer questions.
We needed more time to share examples and best practices. There was so much talent that I could never seem to get enough of input from my peers.
Perhaps a few more guest lectures that would draw on current business issues being faced by a company related to a particular course.
The staff at Fisher was exceptional. They were very helpful and always highly organized. The international trip was very well planned and provided me with the opportunity to visit and analyze companies that were located in China. I am in manufacturing, and having the ability to tour and visit my direct competition was worth the cost of the program.
The program could have benefited from additional integration across courses throughout the program.
Brilliant instructors with genuine enthusiasm to teach, and especially teach professionals. Most of them fed on the experience of the students for an even more enriching experience.
Strengths: Combination of real-world executive experience and academic knowledge.
Weaknesses: A few instructors were good, but not used to teaching EMBA students vs. MBA or undergrads.
The program could have used better quality e-business offerings and more ethics curriculum.
Strengths: Most professors were highly capable of applying lectures and discussions to every-day business, and were cognizant of balancing lecture and discussion time.
Weaknesses: Some required too much reading or busy work, and some did not leverage the experience of class members in class.
