Nissan's green limo

It mighn’t be quite as glitzy as a stretch limousine, but for those looking to hire something a little greener how about Nissan’s fuel cell-powered SUV? Starting today, Nissan is providing Kanagawa Toshi Kotsu, a Japanese limo hire company, with a fuel cell-powered SUV to to be used as part of their chauffer-driven fleet. According to Nissan, each X-Trail FCV, which delivers 90 kilowatts of power, is capable of the same level of performance as the gasoline-powered X-Trail but with the benefit of clean air technology.
Of course, Nissan will welcome anything that gives its environmental image a boost, especially as CEO Carlos Ghosn has been generally ukewarm on hybrids (Nissan’s Altima hybrid, for instance, uses Toyota’s system). A real coup, though, would be getting one of those Prius-loving Hollywood stars to use one next time they’re in Tokyo hawking their latest movie…
