ISU trustees scale back tuition increase for 2012

Indiana State University will reduce its planned tuition increase for in-state students for 2012.

The university's trustees on Friday agreed to trim a scheduled 3.5 percent increase for in-state undergraduate students to 1.5 percent.

ISU President Daniel Bradley said in a statement that the change will save full-time students nearly $650 over four years.

The new rate sets tuition at $3,949 per semester for Indiana students during the 2012-13 school year.

The trustees in June had approved a 3.5 percent tuition increase for each of the next two years. That was higher than the 2.5 percent increase the Commission for Higher Education had recommended.

Bradley said last week that Indiana State would seek to limit future increases in student costs to increases in the Consumer Price Index.
